Our story

Sonora Grill started in 2004 under the concept of Sonora Taco Grill, a place specialized in steak tacos, on the corner of División del Norte and Eje 5, a place with just five tables. The concept was liked from the first moment, and it was under the wishes and advice of our diners that it was decided to expand it and call it simply… Sonora Grill.

The path of growth from then to date has had its aspects, but it has been under the care, talent, dedication and commitment of its collaborators, and under the leadership of its partners, that it has managed to position itself and consolidate itself as one of the fastest growing Mexican restaurant groups today.

To measure the growth of the group, it is worth comparing the number with which it started operations, starting with eight collaborators, today there are more than 3,500 people working for what it is today: Sonora Grill Group, which includes seven concepts that are, Sonora Grill, Sonora Prime, Parrilla Urbana, ROOF, Prime Steak Club, Cervo and Holsteins, with 43 restaurants in different parts of the country such as Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Monterrey, Querétaro, Metepec, Puebla, Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Merida, Irapuato, Veracruz, Sonora and Mexico City.

Sonora Grill Group has various recognitions such as: Famous Brand awarded by the IMPI in 2019.

Ricardo Añorve

Ricardo Añorve was born in Oaxaca, where he lived until he was 20 years old and where he began his studies in business management. Soon, he decided to move to Puebla, México, to become independent and put his dreams to test. The first of them, search for an opportunity that would allow him to generate resources to live and save money, because in his mind, from a very young age, he had in mind to have a restaurant.

It was in Puebla where he began his journey in the restaurant world, working for different renown chains and where he began to know every area of the business. In 2001, he decided to move to México City with the firm idea of gathering what was necessary to start his own business, a restaurant that would offer delicious cuts of meat at a fair price.

After several years of planning, searching for a location and acquiring the necessary equipment, Sonora Taco Grill was born in 2004, a place specialized in steak tacos, which was later called Sonora Grill. Since then, the group has grown to the point of positioning itself and consolidating itself in the country, thanks to the care and leadership of Ricardo Añorve, as a team with its partners.

In the last years, Ricardo Añorve has been recognized with the Chain Director of the Year award by CANARIC in 2016, EY Entrepreneur of the Year in 2017, The Key to Progress by AMAIT in 2018, and it was in 2019 when the IMPI recognized Sonora Grill with the distinctive Famous Brand.
